Bird Watching

Kerala is a destination which remains to be rich in housing a wide variety of birds. Approximately, 516 species of birds reside in the state where a number of bird sanctuaries are located which is also known as the eco-hubs of birds. Both local species and migratory species of birds reside here. Few of the most famous bird sanctuaries in Kerala are Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary, Thattekad Bird Sanctuary and Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. Some of the rarest birds spotted at Kerala are Great Cormorant, Grey Heron and Oriental Heron.

Activity Description

The state bird of Kerala is Great Hornbill. A wide variety of hornbills can be seen on reaching to Vazhachal at Thrissur. Pathiramanal which is located at Alleppey is an Island where the travellers get to see the varied number of birds. In case bird watching is on the cards of travellers, Kerala is the perfect place to reach with a pair of binoculars as they are definite to get a treat to their eyes in the eco-hubs of Kerala.
